My CancerIQ.

A new online cancer prevention and screening tool from Cancer Care Ontario: Opportunities and applications for public health units

In January, 2015, Cancer Care Ontario will launch My CancerIQ™, a public-facing website with interactive, personalized assessments for female breast, colorectal, lung, and cervical cancer. In this presentation, participants will learn about this health e-tool, as well as the opportunities for public health units to support their work in cancer screening and chronic disease prevention efforts locally.

Presenters: Shawn Chirrey and Corinne Hodgson

Shawn Chirrey has worked in health promotion for 20 years and has worked extensively in both online health promotion and healthy public policy and policy development. Shawn is senior manager of the Prevention team at Cancer Care Ontario (CCO). He has worked previously at Toronto Public Health, the Heart and Stroke Foundation, and The Health Communication Unit.

Corinne Hodgson is a senior communications analyst on CCO’s Prevention team. She joined the My CancerIQ project in 2013, bringing with her two decades of experience in the design, development, and implementation of online, interactive, and offline resources for chronic disease prevention, behaviour change, patient education, and science communications. Past clients have included a variety of governmental, not-for-profit and for-profit health organizations.
